Godfather

main.jpg

I have just finished reading the book “The Godfather”. Don’t worry, I am not going to narrate the story or going to tell you about the greatness of this book. I believe we all know about “The Godfather”. The essence of this post is, well, it may seem a little weird – “DON GANDHI OR MAHATMA CORLEONE???” Nope, I am not going to criticize Mr M. K. Gandhi, no, that is not my purpose, at least right now.

As soon as I finished the book I started analysing the traits, character and the leadership qualities of Mr. Vito Andolini Corleone, whom we know as The Godfather. On of a sudden, a thought popped up in my mind which I have penned down here. It was a comparison of Mr. Corleone with Mr. Gandhi, father of our nation.

(i) Both of them were those rarities; who had refused to accept the rule of the organized society, men who refused to the dominion of other men. There was no force, no mortal man who could bend them their wills unless they wished it. They both were men who guarded their free will with wiles and murder. Their wills could be subverted only by death or the utmost reasonableness.

(ii) Both of them had one goal which arose from contempt for any authority and dictatorship, hatred for any man who exploited the law of silence. Mr. Corleone sprang upto fight against the rules that had crushed the country and its people for centuries. So as Mr. Gandhi did against the British rulers. Both of them chose peaceful ways, but there were loss of countless human lives, some way or the other, which unwantingly both of the leaders had to bear.

(iii) Both of them served the purpose of their own life peacefully. They ruled as informal leaders over millions and billions. Both of them were powerful speakers. Words were the only weapon they were armed with. Their speeches were as subtle and discreet as they could be.

(iv) Mr. Gandhi was a freedom fighter for our nation who worshiped non-violence to maintain a peaceful operation towards the goal. Mr. Corleone, the most powerful underworld mafia at his time handled all his operations and was able to maintain peace in underworld so that the common man lived in peace. Both of them never let anyone exploit the innocent.

(v) Rules of dominant society condemned them to a life not suitable to a man like them. They were the men of extraordinary force and character. There were hurdles, there were conflicts, but nothing could stop them.

There are no difference between these two rebels. But we see both in different perspectives, stamped in two different designations – Mr. Corleone as DON and Mr. Gandhi as Mahatma. So can I conclude that there is no difference between the words DON and MAHATMA against all dictionaries?

So Don Gandhi or Mahatma Corleone???
Perhaps both were Godfathers to many…

Take a ride in this boat

I believe the title and the picture gives you an idea of the theme of this post..so let me get you straight to the topic. Yeah its bit long, But it is very necessary for you to read. My roommate Pranshu always says “There are so many simple things around us, But its need a genius to understand their simplicity”. So here are some simple things. Am I talking to a genius?

Movie…

Don’t you think movies like No Smoking, Hazaron Khwaishen Aishi, 1971, Dor, Water, Iqbal, Pather Panchali etc should not be made in India. Anurag Kahyap, Amrit Sagar, Satyajit Ray, Sudhir Mishra, Deepa Mehta etc should be stopped from making movies. These are the real fools, aren’t they?

Why don’t they understand that there is no audience to appreciate their work, in India(yeah, the audience which actually has the intelligence to understand movies). Why don’t they understand that People like “NAUTANKI” here.
Let me give you an example. Which movie has become blockbuster hit in this year…’Om Shanti Om’. If you haven’t watched the movie, please go and watch. I can assure you, You won’t find a Nautanki bigger than this. Bloody hell!! You will be pissed off. For God’s sake, please understand filmmakers like Farah Khan, David Dhawan are repeatedly questioning the intelligence of the audience. But there is no point in blaming them. It is you for whom they are making movies. What happened to your taste? I have mentioned the names of some movies. Please watch those once and try to understand the great efforts made behind those. See the script, the story line, the acting, the direction, the background colour, the theme…I won’t be amazed, if you say “This movie is GREAT” after watching those.

Music….

Haahahaha…I have heard most of the people claiming they have an amazing taste in Indian music. But what and whom do they listen to… (Have a good Laugh!) They listen to Himesh Reshamiya, Sonu Nigam and and (please hold your laughter for a moment)-& they listen to remixes. And when they listen to oldies they feel like taking a nap. Fuck You; If you don’t have the right taste of Music, just stay away from it.

I know, I have become very harsh but I am really amazed at the kind of taste of music, people have in our country. If you really like music, see the involvement of the singe in the feel of the song , the lyrics, the instruments played…Here are some important names related to indian music industry..Legendry Singers- Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeskar, Kumar Sanu, Suresh wadekar, KK, Kavita Krishnamurty, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali, Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udash, Roop Kumar Rathod, Rabbi Shergill…..Lyricists: Gulzar, Prasoon Joshi -Listen to E.g. Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, No Smoking, Guru(Mayya mayya)
Believe me all the names I have mentioned right above are pearls of Indian Music, pearls which are invaluable. Their names should be flagged above all things.

Isn’t it?

Indian music and culture are the only things upon which an Indian can proud of. Because it is our own creation. I just want you to help these people keeping that creation alive. By encouraging them. Know their greatness.
I became very depressed when i read an article some days before- It was an interview of KK. It says, he had to walk with the recent trendz of remixes. He was recognized by people for the song “AJAB Si of Om shanti Om” (Believe me it was the worst among the best songs he has sung). ….More over, Some one has written a comment to that article even (who is this KK, is he Kailash Kher?). People even don’t know him. Just Listen to “Tadap Tadap of Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam, Title song of Deewangee, Aashayen of Iqbal, Alvida of Metro, Tu hi meri sab hai of Gangstar and many more are there and do let me know if I am wrong.

The same thing happens with movies too. Look at Aamir Khan. He chooses movies as per the script. He refused 35 crores to ADLABS only because they didnt have a script. Movie makers also gradually stopped making movies of good scripts. only because people don’t like those. I ask “whtz happening to our educated mass. Wht do you actually look for in movies and music? What is the basis of your selection? is it only entertainment and nothing else???
